We’re Kidding Again!

As with most of my does, I have a name theme that we like to go by to name our kids.

For Example:
>> Prairie Wood Golden Dynasty’s kids’ names contain Gems, Jewels, or Precious Metals
>> Caprine Acres AD Jimanji’s kids are games but all does have to start with J, as her whole dam side contains names starting with J
>> Twinkle Little Ruby Slippers’ kids are Wizard of Oz themed (Ruby is Dyna’s daughter, hence the Ruby in her name)
>> Twinkle Little Mariquita’s kids are Bugs (her name means Ladybug in Spanish)
and so on…

We had a small time gap between kiddings this Spring, but our next round starts up again with Prairie Wood Stella McCartney. She is due around May 17th and we are anxiously awaiting her kids, as last year she gave us triplets, 2 does and a buck. For Stella, when she kidded last year we decided that her kids’ theme would be Fashion Brands since Stella McCartney is a Fashion Designer. My lovely sister was very helpful with coming up with names last year, as I am not really into fashion like she is. Last year’s does were named Apple Bottom and Juicy Couture. So, this year as Stella’s due date approaches I have become increasingly aware that I need help again with the Fashion Theme. That’s where you come into play. I would like you to send over some name suggestions! You can enter them in the comments of this blog post or leave them on the comment section of the Facebook post we have up on out Facebook Page. If we choose a name that you suggested, you will win a bar of our Homemade Goat’s Milk Soap. If there is more than one person that submits the same name then we will choose the one that was suggested first. Please make sure that you are 18 years or older and reside in the USA to participate.

The first week of June should also bring us kids from Caprine Acres Jiving Juliet (a first freshener), Prairie Wood Promiscuous (another first freshener), and Sycamore SS Joy Of Noelle. I am always extremely nervous with my first fresheners, I never know how they will react to kidding so I try to be present to help them. Last year, we were absolutely devastated when we lost triples from Sycamore SS Joy Of Noelle. She was a first freshener and we missed her kidding in the middle of the night. Several factors were against her and contributed to the loss, we were still in the process of moving, I believed she had a few days before being due, and we hadn’t had barn cameras up yet. She had no idea what to do once they were out and did not try to break the sacks and stimulated them to breath. Thankfully, she delivered them without a problem and we didn’t loose her as well. This year, however things are completely different and she has a lot of things going for her than against her. I am very excited about her kids, as I am hoping and praying for a doe kid to keep from her this year. Aside from the fact that she is one of our family favorites she is a very nice little milker. Her kids are sired by our sweet buck, RHV CS Triton’s Man O’ War*B. Both Noelle and Triton’s dams have their milk stars due to high production. If genetics are in our favor, any doe kids should be phenomenal milkers and her buck kids should pass on the milk lines as well!

Have a blessed day,
